What’s moving you?

There once was an organic farmer who in the midst of his fields happen to have a thought bubbling up. It was a very simple but powerful one.

He was aware that so many farmers out there are doing their work with increasing concern for the wellbeing of the earth and its inhabitants, and that many had chosen -as he did- to cultivate organic, bio- and biodynamic food.
He was in contact with several of such people and exchanged with some of them in his region on a material level.

So the thought he had sounded more or less as follows :
"What if I just went out to visit some of these organic farmers worlwide to ask them what really moves them?" - that is: "what was behind their choice, why did they do it; and what would be their message for the world?".

An immaterial exchange which could be recorded on video, to then publish it into a documentary film and also on the net. Just to exchange and inspire...

He contacted a friend - cameraman... arrange for his farm to continue for a while without him, and off they went ! ...

The farmer actually exists.
I met him recently during our family holiday in Alsace, France. His name is Maurice Meyer and he went twice to South-Africa already to start realizing this thought. Next on the agenda are Brazil, but also some European countries.

His publishing has started on an internet blog, where several short documentaries can be seen, both in English and French.

Really fresh and inspiring food - Just as an exemple I've added a sample one hereunder !

The power of the summit

If we'll remember one thing from the month of December 2009, then it's likely to be Copenhagen Summit in Denmark on environmental issues. If not because of it's size, it's worldwide media coverage, it's political impact or lack of impact and it's result or lack of result... definitely just because of it's overall importance.

The power of the summit

Will you be listening for the good news from Denmark next month? Will you be waiting to hear what changes lies in store for your lifestyle? Will you hope that ‘they’ can resolve their differences and heal the world? Yet another meeting of ‘our representatives’ will bring together those who believe that they have the ‘power to influence’ all our futures. The Copenhagen summit on climate change will once again focus minds in search of joint solutions to the environmental issues that transcend all borders. Decisions will be made that may affect generations to come. Past summits seem to have done little to translate whatever consensus was achieved into decisive action. Already the leaders who will convene next month are telling us that new decisions cannot be taken as there is not enough time to organize the right ideas, draft the treaties and build consensus. While many despair at a repeating pattern of disagreement and division, prevarication and delay, others have given up hope that anything significant can be done at such gatherings of the so called movers and shakers.

Last month, I've been giving a friend from Paris some help in launching her new online multimedia project on "an unknown story of humanity, the soul story ".
Getting the flash to properly flash on all DSL bandwiths, even those with moderate speed and keeping the level of quality envisaged.
A challenge indeed.

Abraham-Hicks

Through a friend who sent me a couple of CDs from Abraham-Hicks on the Law of Attraction, I got to listen to one of the better speakers and teachers on Consciousness I've heard already.
To the point, practical spirituality brought in a freeing, humorous and inviting way.
Actually Esther Hicks, who gets her "inspirations" from "Abraham", also appeared on the first version of the famous The Secret project, so you might, as I did, remember her from there.

How exactly 'the machinery' behind this phenomenon of "mediation", "inspiration" or "channeling" (or whatever you want to call it) works, is another pair of scissors - but the message definitely stands.
The teachings are a good example of how cultural translated, clear, understandable, non-dogmatic explanations can truly be enlightening and inspiring towards the wonderful path of self-discovery and self-management.

I intend to consciously create my own reality

Yes, of course they have a site , which is commercial and thoroughly marketeered, but you can find some broadening views and answers to questions people have through some free video clips made during the multifold of conferences they have and are doing. These alone already are quite a dose perhaps :-)

So offer yourself a break and browse to some of these highlights and insights, which are build up around the "universal laws" (and especially the "law of attraction") which got summarized as follows on their site:

playing with 22, 7, 142857 and precision

In a reflection and research on Excels precision handling, I came across this magic number 142857. From the Wikipedia definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/142857_(number)):

142857 is the six repeating digits of 1/7, 0.142857, and is the best-known cyclic number in base 10.
If you multiply the number by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, the answer will be a cyclic permutation of itself, and equivalent to 2/7, 3/7, 4/7 ,5/7 , or 6/7, respectively.

So in other words try this:
142857 * 2
142857 * 3
142857 * 4
142857 * 5
142857 * 6

But also this:
1/7
2/7
3/7
4/7
5/7
6/7

I hadn't realized that pi, or the famous 22/7 has this exact cyclic number too as decimals: 3,1428571428571428571428571428571...

22 and 7 being numbers which for all kind of reasons have always been predominant to me.
Makes you wonder ...

In the margin of mail, hoaxes and truth

Every regular internet and/or mail user knows the phenomenon: the multitude of email messages which circle around and are not really spam (well... depends on how you see if of course, and let alone also junk, obscene etc.), which are not strictly necessary and/or professional too, nor really personal, but do land in our inbox because you're email address has landed on one of your colleague or friends email lists.
Because he or she enjoys or finds it great or useful to share that great powerpoint presentation, essential advice, not to be missed happening, or inspirational message...

It's always good to check though. As a friend of mine experienced recently with the each year coming back message about the extra-ordinary Mars position.

So ok, it's summer time after all, here a nice story which landed recently in my mailbox, and at least seems to be half true, or 'inspired on real facts' following this source: http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/o/oneglassofmilk.htm. A story which can stand well as introduction on an exchange or discussion on the topic of the universal law of action and reaction, the law of karma :-)

'Home', the film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, actually does the same thing. With great sense for beauty and creative composition, he mixes a good hour of stunning views on our planet, most airy, to conclude with a less airily invitation to reconsider the way we deal with our planet and set small practical steps in the good direction.

Well it hasn't really to do with the year 2013. Perhaps indirectly, as you'll come to see, as a symbolic reference to the times 'after' the over hyped 22 December 2012 date, the so-called Mayan 'end of time' date (or better end of the big Long Count wheel)... .

It was in 1996 indeed that I made a trip to Mexico, more precisely to Yucatan in order to visit the pyramids over there and get to know more about the Mayan civilization. I had already been aware of the concept of cyclic time, but had never gone into more depth about the Mayan approach of cyclic time.
And so it became a memorable trip, where I got to see the inscriptions in Palenque referring to a big cyclic time phase calculated by the Mayan, starting at 3113 BC (august 13th) going up to 2012 (December 22th) (dates recalculated to Gregorian time and subject of (mis)interpretation).

But what intrigued me the most, was the way the Mayan did their calculations. So through some reading and study afterward I came to realize more about their famous 13 x 20 matrix, or 'divine key', or 'universal DNA', on the basis of which all their calculations are based.
13 stands for 13 moon cycles or energies, and 20 stands for 20 sun energies or sun cycles. The Mayans were still able to capture, label and use those energies, made it the basis of their mathematics (the vigesimal system) and applied it to time calculations.

As at that time I had been introduced to the internet already, and I was looking for a domain name, I just inverted the 13:20 digits which brought me to 20:13. Omitting the colon gave me an acceptable DNS name, easy to recall and communicate (as only numbers) and a symbolic reference to the time period 'after'the current cycle which is obviously spinning to a 'catharsis'.... but also allowing lots of renewals - and that's where I see the focus and purpose of my being.
Then also, as I was and am still focused on the primary task of the net, i.e. to exchange, I didn't really envisaged a .com domain (moreover it was taken already then) and .org wasn't covering what I intended either... so besides .edu, .gov and .mil there were not really other choices then, than .net - Although completely inappropriate too, it covered the purpose however very nicely and symbolically in the keyword 'net' .

In summary

So that's how 2013.net saw the light :-)

As a summary you could say it's very much a symbolic set of digits, symbolizing a matrix code and the start of a new period or time, integrating science and meta-science, math and intuition, left and right brain, yin and yang...consciousness and matter...
a visualisation of the road ahead .

Pearls before breakfast - or the “Joshua Bell Metro” experiment

What would happen if a famous violin player starts playing virtuously some morning at the entrance of a metro station at peek hour?

That's basically what Joshua Bell, in Washington, in early 2007 - a time back indeed, but the link describing the experience landed this week in my mailbox.
In case you're curious, just have a look at the Washington Post article, there's video material too and a link to the full 'concerto' in audio.

A good introduction on a reflection on perception, on discernment, the spirit of the time or ... my own capacity of realizing beauty and giving it its time and space.

Learning is a self organising system

While going through some bookmarks in order to answer another post, I came across a youTube video on an experiment of an Indian education researcher showing what happens when you go to rural areas where children never touched a PC and you put one in a wall and just go away.
He actually witnessed how easily children picked up how to surf the net, how to use the PC, and how to used the internet technolgy to learn a variety of things.

A nice watch and exploration on how learning is evolving. What I especially like is the emphasis on the effect of the group-factor on the learning process.

A really interesting documentary on water, but not only it emphasizes on the memory faculty of water, it dares to set a step further into linking it all up with consciousness and the magical influence of our minds. It not only sets the tone for the new year, but sure for the upcoming times :-)

Nature’s magic

Not sure where this comes from originally, but a nice study of the wonderful relationship between food, foodcells, vegetables and our body and body cells. One of these messages going 'wild' on the internet - not many make it further down the road after landing in my mailbox, but there are 'exceptions' to this rule :-)
This one does it under the title 'clues'.

Health tips

Some time ago a friend who lives in Portugal send me some mail composition with all kind of Health Tips and insights.
Now I could just point you to the original source of the compilation, but that seems to be a mysterious 'Manikandan', somewhere in India I believe - so I couldn't pinpoint his whereabouts immediately. Plenty of people have referred to these tips, and as I especially liked the insights on the use of healthy juices, I'm publishing some of them here as well.

As after all, isn't there there the adagio: a healthy mind needs a healty body?

Biblical Entheogens: a Speculative Hypothesis

About 30 years ago my spiritual journey not only started off by some books on meditation (as recently elaborated in another post on Transcendental Meditation), I also devoured Carlos Castaneda’s four or five first books at the time.  As an anthropologist, he passionately researched on the nature of consciousness with the help of an Indian sorcerer and hallucinogens.
I immediately took up this link when I got this email presenting a research article of Benny Sharon in a new magazine ’Time and Mind‘ - the title is: Biblical Entheogens: a Speculative Hypothesis ; the full text can be downloaded.

A speculative hypothesis is presented according to which the ancient Israelite religion was associated with the use of entheogens (mind-altering plants used in sacramental contexts). The hypothesis is based on a new look at texts of the Old Testament pertaining to the life of Moses, suggesting that Moses’ experiences and visions as described in the Bible were linked to the use of hallucinogens.  The article has all kind of interesting links and reflections.

The difference between purple and violet

Visiting the Planetarium today brought an interesting discussion back home: what's exactly the difference between purple and violet?
The explanation in the exhibit stated violet as a 'spectral' colour, i.e. a color on the visible spectrum you get a result of the breaking of light through a prism - to realize violet it's good enough to look at a rainbow... when you can grasp one of course :-)

Purple refers to a 'non-spectral' colour, i.e. made by a mixing colours ; so in color theory 'a Purple' is defined as any non-spectral color between violet and red. But how do those colours look like next to each other? And apparently listening to my daughters' experience at school she's taught that violet looks like purple and vice-versa. Googeling it seem to confirm the confusion as to how these colours are/should be named | labeled exactly... So good there's Wikipedia to put things in perspective.

I've found this helpful too: theory for artists, just as this : color matters. And especially in respect to webdesign: Spectral violet is outside the gamut of typical RGB color spaces, and therefore it can be approximated but cannot be reproduced exactly on a computer screen !
